About WikiNotes

Birth: September, 2003
This site started out with just a few pages of notes on Humanities. Now, Humanities teachers were renown for their impossible daily quizzes and equally frustrating tests and projects. Initial reception to the notes was mixed. Most students were overjoyed that someone would write/post notes for them, while some accused me of rigging the GPA system and killing their rank (I'm still scratching my head over that one). A few concerned teachers went as far as to bookmark this site to make sure no one used it to cheat on certain projects (possibly one of the first honors given to this site).
The First Year
Being the capitalist pig that I was, I attempted to gain some type of monetary reimbursement from the work that I put into this site. Several password setups later, the site became a member-only website, under the guise of "Crazyray's HW Help." Membership reached its peak of 15 members around March of 2004, though possession of these notes was much higher than that number. A rather feeble attempt at collecting money was made into the 2004-05 school year, but it soon became apparent that all efforts were useless. Thus, with a final profit barely exceeding $80, I resigned myself to finding a free server. Thankfully, xthost and dhost were there for me. Domain is a redirect from vze.com, so it's rather difficult to get indexed in the major search engines.
One-Man Show
Despite my best efforts to gather together a posse of nerdy note-takers, I only received two offers, and both were extremely short-lived experiments in partnership. Therefore, the first 1000+ files uploaded on this site were made by a single person, me. As fun as it was/is to trick people on quizzes with oddly worded questions and inserting personal comments into the notes, this practice became quite a chore as the site entered its second year of existence. It became obvious that I would pass out from either exhaustion or a mental breakdown if I continued at the note-making pace I was at.
Current Status
As much as my overblown ego would like to believe that visitors also visit for my blog, anime reviews, and juvenile flash/art projects, it's obvious that this HW Help portion of the site would remain the most popular. Trying to get in on the new "wiki" craze, the submit option was added in an effort to make this more of a community-based database of notes and practice questions. Not as well structured or formated as the other wiki-sites, but hopefully this will jumpstart a tired webmaster and his aging website.
The Future

PHP and mysql plans pretty much went down the toilet. Looking at the validity problems currently plaguing wikipedia, even with their hordes of supporters, wiki-ing this site hardly sounds like a good idea.

Eventually, I'll try to use php and put together a better, less time-consuming layout, hopefully before I leave for MIT in the fall.
